October concert preview!

October 2008 may go down as the most concert-centric month in my life. Here's a breakdown:

October 13: Rise Against/Alkaline Trio/Thrice/Gaslight Anthem
Rise Against
Alkaline Trio
Thrice
I don't know who the Gaslight Anthem is, but honestly we're most likely going to miss their set so it's probably for the best. However, every other one of those bands is going to be fucking awesome. Thrice are a band where I loved their first two albums, but didn't really get into the two after that. No matter; I've seen them play live before, and they put on a good show. Alkaline Trio is a band I've been a fan of since my college days; they've changed a bunch since then, dropping their punk style for a more mellow pop-rock style, but the songwriting quality has stayed high. Looking forward to that one. Rise Against... well, I've covered them in another post. Suffice to say, I'm looking forward to this show.

October 22-23: Coheed and Cambria
Coheed and Cambria
Coheed are playing 4 nights in a row in NYC, each show is going to be one of their albums played in its entirety. Their first two albums are fucking amazing, so of course I'm checking out those two shows. Their most recent album is probably the best of all, but I saw them twice on that tour so I didn't feel the need to shell out to hear the same songs again. Anyway, this is going to be AWESOME.

October 28: CKY
CKY
CKY are best known as "the band that dude from Jackass's brother is in," but to the wise they are an awesome Stoner Rock band. Vicky is big into them, so we are going to check this one out. I'm definitely a CKY (stands for "Camp Kill Yourself") fan, so this should cap off an awesome concert month.

Honorary mention!
November 21: Every Time I Die
Every Time I Die
Okay so it's not in October, but I am definitely psyched for this one. Every Time I Die have an awesome mix of southern rock and balls-out heavy metal, and they totally kick my ass every time I listen to them. So, needless to say, this show should be intense. Crap, come to think of it, I still need to buy tix to this one. Better get on the ball with that.

I will naturally be checking in after each of these shows to give y'all the low down on how they went.

It is funny you mentioned CKY... I am clearly not wise as my knowledge end at oh that's "the band that dude from Jackass's brother is in."

You're definitely in the majority; they never had a big hit and became notorious more for the Bam Margera connection than for anything else. Same with a goth rock band called HIM from Sweden; they are now mostly known as "the band whose logo is tattooed on Bam."
