Dude! That Sucks! I am glad you are OK, but what happened?
The short version: I came off of an on-ramp in the pouring rain, hydroplaned on a puddle, and crashed into the guardrail on the side of the highway. I didn't hit anyone, just my own car. Passenger side airbag deployed, luckily mine didn't.
From talking to people, the consensus seems to be that there's a good chance my car is totaled. I hope that isn't the case, but at this point I've had the car for 5 years and it has a lot of miles on it, so maybe it being totaled wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. I guess we'll see, but I'm preparing myself for the worst (the worst being that I have to get a new car).
Well, again I am sorry that it happened at all, but from those pictures, it looks just like Cat's car when it was totaled a couple of years back. It just seems like those kind of crashes do number on the internal parts of the car.
In any case, a new car wouldn't be bad either. There are alot of nice new cars out there and I am sure your car doesn't have a bad book value. We will just have to see how it works out.
So, my car is definitely totaled. But the value of my car was decent, so I'm basically getting a nice-sized down payment for a new car. Tonight I went to the Mazda dealer and test drove a Mazda3, which felt nice. So maybe I will get a car soon. In any event, I'll probably try a few more comparably priced cars this week, and then get something once I get the check from the insurance company.
Today, however, there was indeed a tearful goodbye to my former car, which is sitting in a junkyard waiting to be picked up by the insurance company tomorrow.
Again, I am sorry that your car is totaled, but I am excited that you get to buy a new car. that part is exciting. Please let us know how it goes this week.
