Super Dolb or Dolb to the Rescue

So, Joe asks what's new in Dolberland 2006...well, on Friday, January 20 (aka Dana Day) I officially saved the life of a pigeon. Super Dolb to the rescue. :) How? you ask...or as some might say "Why?"...but hopefully not. How is the better question. :) It was just sitting outside the train stop near my house with two injured wings...looked like it had been attacked by another animal or something. I felt so bad for it...it couldn't move anywhere..so I went inside and made TRILLIONS of phone calls till I found an organization that would come pick it up if I got it contained. So back outside for SuperDolb, snow shovel and ventilated shoe box in hand...now every time I went near the pigeon with the shovel, it tried to get away, and I was afraid it would hurt itslef more...and while I'm doing this, this middle aged guy at the train stop with a dog is watching me like I'm nuts (perhaps I am)...but I explained the situation to him, and he actually said...'oh, when I was little, I used to have a carrier pigeon!' at which point I immediately thought of Joe. :) So the former carrier pigeon owner helped me to get the bird into the box, and I went back inside, made a phone call, and two hours later, they picked up the boxed pigeon from my apartment...triumph for all!!! Hopefully they will be able to help him...NOW, the really werid thing is that when I looked down next to the bird, there was a random 20 dollar bill lying on the groud...alsmost as if I'd been rewarded...haha...or as Daddy Dolb said, 'maybe someone robbed the pigeon and dropped a 20 as they were running away...' the world may never know...so the cliche of the day will be: "No good deed goes unrewarded..." maybe we should have a new "cliche of the day" column...right after the 'new word of the day column...' may we all have a wonderful, well beveragized week ahead..." :)

Good Job Dolb!

I don't think I would have gone to that much trouble, especially since I know in the past I have heard or seen horrible things and have continued walking or shut my window, door, etc... (I am from New York City, where you learn to keep to yourself. I know Long Island is different), but anyway, I think this was a really great thing that you did.

As for the bird, I don't agree with Daddy Dolb's take on the matter. I think the pigeon was the one trying to rob someone and in self defense the person struck down the bird, but dropped the 20 dollars in an attempt to get away. Do you think this lessens the good deed if you in fact helped save an alleged criminal and took the money? Just food for thought...
