Welcome to the review of week 5. Let's take a look at the current standings (halfway into this week -- sorry, I was late!):
As you can see, we're holding strong in the lower portion of the top 5. I'm curious as to how serious the other competitors are taking this whole thing; are there 4 people taking it seriously at all, and so I'm the worst out of those, or is everyone taking it seriously, and so I'm in the top 5 of those? I guess I could ask them, but that's kind of weird. Plus, I don't want to remind anyone that they're sucking, to make them step up their game and then beat me. :)
Anyway, let's take a look at this week's picks. Busy last two weekends for me; they really shouldn't do this kind of thing in the summer, when I am all over the place and don't have time to obsessively pay attention to WWE wrestling. Ahem.
A couple of guys so far this week have been notably absentfrom my roster: Kurt Angle, who was kind of a gut pick for me that I later thought better of (and then he went and won the "Angle Invitational" which is basically a specialty match -- appearance, match, win, finisher, finisher win, specialty match), and Chris Masters (won a regular match), who I took off my roster for this week because he's been a no-show. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.
Carlito (RAW) 3.5 mil
In following my "pick guys who aren't the top guys, but are near the top" strategy, Carlito was an obvious pick. Sure enough, last night he defended his Intercontinental championship against Shelton Benjamin by just walking out of the ring and getting counted out (lost the match, but title does not change hands on a disqualification).
Chris Jericho (RAW) 4 mil
I looked for Jericho to at least get some foreign object points in an attack on John Cena (they are currently feuding over the title), but no such luck. I also forgot that he is actually at the top of the RAW roster for the moment, as he's the perennial midcarder. So I thought I was picking near-top with him, but I forgot he actually is what passes for the top of the heap these days.
Edge (RAW) 4 mil
I knew Edge had a match with Kane scheduled, and since Kane won the last match they had, I looked to Edge to get back his win. Of course, as I'm watching the show, I'm thinking, "You know, I bet Kane will win by disqualification due to some crazy outside interference or something." And what do you know. Oh well, at least he had a match. And he also had several random appearances earlier in the show, so I still consider Edge a good pick for this week.
JBL (SmackDown!) 5 mil
I'm not exactly sure why I picked JBL, other than that he really hasn't let me down. Also, I expect Batista to win their upcoming PPV match next week, and so I assume JBL will do something nefarious before that match. Nefarious things get me points.
Joey Mercury (of MNM) (SmackDown!) 3 mil
Tag team champs MNM have been on a roll as of late, and so I thought that Mercury was a good safe choice for this week. No solid feuds or anything at the moment, but they've been consistently on TV. Fingers crossed.
Muhammad Hassan (SmackDown!) 3.5 mil
Hassan has been especially nefarious as of late (especially during his current feud with the Undertaker), and so I expect to, if not see him in action, then at least see him in some prominent role. And at his price, I think that is enough.
Psicosis (of the Mexicools) (SmackDown!) 2 mil
I'm hoping that Velocity actually shows matches this week; if so, I expect Psicosis will appear in some sort of wrestling role. Barring that, the Mexicools have at least been making appearances on the last few SmackDown!s, so I might still get my money's worth.
Rosey (RAW) 3 mil
Rosey WAS a shoe-in for a while, since he would always be in the main event of Heat... unfortunately, last week his only appearance was a backstage skit on RAW. I'm banking on them having matches on Heat again this week, hence his appearance on my roster.
Viscera (RAW) 2 mil
Viscera had been a RAW staple for a while, in either squash matches or just vignettes of some kind, so I thought he was a shoe-in. Unfortunately, he didn't show up at all on RAW. Hoping, as with Rosey, that he makes some sort of appearance on Heat.
So that's the roster for this week. I really need to start paying attention to wrestling again if I expect to do well at this. I guess we'll see if that happens or not.
1 | The Bluth Company | 892 | 178.4 |
2 | Worcester Wrestling Federation | 833 | 166.6 |
3 | Hot Death | 805 | 161.0 |
4 | The SentonBOMBS | 786 | 157.2 |
5 | Bring Back Billocity | 768 | 153.6 |
6 | The Newer Breed | 763 | 152.6 |
7 | Big (Bad) Bully Busick | 757 | 151.4 |
8 | Jellofiend | 747 | 149.4 |
9 | The Small Packages | 743 | 148.6 |
10 | Rocket Busters | 742 | 148.4 |
11 | J.O.B. Squad 2005 | 737 | 147.4 |
12 | Waffleking's Complete Breakfast | 722 | 144.4 |
13 | The Mayhem | 718 | 143.6 |
14 | Lord Baron | 713 | 142.6 |
15 | Torchslasher | 711 | 142.2 |
16 | The Freeriders | 701 | 140.2 |
17 | The RAW Satires | 694 | 138.8 |
18 | Palumboners | 693 | 138.6 |
19 | ges7184 | 692 | 138.4 |
20 | Markout | 690 | 138.0 |
