My strategy this week was picking all RAW superstars for my team, since they appeared on RAW last night as usual but will also appear on the Vengeance pay-per-view Sunday.
It's too early to talk about specific strategies and who my top competitors are at this point, since it's so early in the game (the "season" lasts 14 weeks). Anyway, let's look at this week's roster...
Batista
-The current World Champion, Batista will be defending against Triple H on Sunday at Vengeance. He also had an announced main event match against Kurt Angle on RAW. A no-brainer, since he would pick up bonus points for having the main event match on both RAW and Vengeance, and competing in a "specialty" match on Sunday (Hell in the Cell). I also expect him to retain the title against Triple H, getting even more points for that.
Chris Masters
-Masters is always a good pick due to his recent habit of calling out "anyone in the back" to try and break his submission hold, the Masterlock. No one has done it yet in the last few months, and so he gets specialty match points ("Masterlock Challenge"), locked-in finishing move points, and points for competing in and winning the match, each week. He also appeared in this type of match on the last RAW pay-per-view, and so I'm banking on another such appearance.
John Cena
-Cena is the current, ultra-popular, WWE Champion, who just moved to RAW from SmackDown!. He will be defending his title in a Triple Threat Match against Chris Jericho and Christian on Sunday, which by all logic would see him coming out victorious. I'm banking on this fact, but he already defended his title in an unannounced match against Muhammad Hassan last night, getting me some good points to start out the week.
Lita
-I had some money left over, so I got Lita for this week; she will at least get guaranteed "appearance points" for showing up at her wedding to Edge last night, as well as during the Edge/Kane match at Vengeance. I'm hoping she hits Kane with a chair or something and gets me some "foreign object use" points (no, I'm not making this up).
Muhammad Hassan
-Always a good pick, since he rarely loses (last night, sadly, being one such rare occurrence). I'm hoping for some random match to be set up involving him at Vengeance, though it's not looking good. May have been my most ill-conceived pick this week.
Rosey
-One half of the Tag Team Champions, Rosey is kind of a crap-shoot. He didn't cost that much, and I already had him on my roster anyway from last week... I'm banking on him defending the tag titles at the pay-per-view, but no match to that effect was announced last night, so I'm a little worried that I made a mistake here too.
Shawn Michaels
-Shawn Michaels faces Kurt Angle at Vengeance. Considering Michaels' history, and clout with the WWE, he seems to always "get his losses back," meaning that if he loses to someone the first time they fight, the next time he invariably wins. Kurt won at Wrestlemania, so Shawn will win at Vengeance.
Shelton Benjamin
-Shelton seemed like a sure thing! The perennial Intercontinental Champion, who has defended his belt against everyone on the freaking roster in the last year... I felt certain that he would get a random title defense at the pay-per-view, and win. Unfortunately, last night the title was won from him by Carlito, in kind of a freak win in an unannounced match. My only hope now is that this is a blessing in disguise, and he takes his title rematch at Vengeance on Sunday and wins it back, getting "title win" points for me in the process. Unfortunately, no such match has been announced.
I should probably do these at the beginning of the week (Sunday night or so), rather than after one of the two big shows of the week... I will try to do it that way next week.
YOU KNOW YOU CARE.

Keith,
I am not sure if I like the commentary more, or the new unofficial catch phrase, "YOU KNOW YOU CARE"
I think it is awesome what kind of random points you can get. It is as random as some of the matches and gimmicks WWE throws up there each week.
I also like your strategy. (Not that i would know a good strategy from a bad one), but in any case you defend it well and make your bad picks sound good nonetheless.
Anyway, JESS- It's now up to you. Everyone knows about my fantasy baseball, we know about Keith's Fantasy Wrestling, now how about that Fantsy Creative Writing League? If one doesn't exisit, i suggest you make it up...
Give points for good segues and plot twists etc... I can see a future here.
Joe: Yeah, they are pretty random. The following list will show you what I am dealing with.
# RAW/SmackDown! Appearance (+3)
# RAW/SmackDown! Match (+5)
# RAW/SmackDown! Win (+7)
# Heat/Velocity Appearance (+1)
# Heat/Velocity Match (+2)
# Heat/Velocity Win (+3)
# Pay Per View Appearance (+5)
# Pay Per View Match (+8)
# Pay Per View Win (+12)
# All Shows: Win a Title (+20)
# All Shows: Retain a Title (+8)
# All Shows: Participation in a Specialty Match (+3)
# All Shows: Winning a Specialty Match (+5)
# All Shows: Eliminating an opponent (+2)
# All Shows: Executed/locked-in finishing move (+1)
# All Shows: Finishing Move victory (+4)
# All Shows: Finishing Move Escape (+3)
# All Shows: Foreign Object Shot (+3)
# All Shows: Final Match (+3)
# All Shows: Disqualification (-4)
# All Shows: Suspension (-10)
So, for example, Rey Mysterio had no match last Thursday, but he picked up a whopping 39 points for two random run-ins: 2 (x3 = 6) appearances, and 11 (x3 = 33) foreign object uses.
And yes, Jess, Joe is right. At this point, you are pretty much required to create some sort of fantasy league for writers.
I hope jess is just thinking long and hard about her Fantasy Creative Writing League and not just ignoring us. I am not asking her to build a website for it oranything, however giving us a fictional one would be funny. We are just looking for some solid details :)
I'm pretty sure that Jess has no idea we are talking to/about her. :) She saw the title of the thread, and that was it.
You Might be right. It is a tragedy really, as I feel there is a lot she could bring to the discussion.
Maybe we can start a new thread entitled, Jess- Read the Wrestling Posts!
Haha. If I see her online, I'll definitely point her in this direction.
Haha..sorry for the delay in my response...I actually did read the wrestling post before it even began concerning me...well, ok--to be fair, I skimmed it. :) Things have just been kind of crazy lately, not that that is necessarily an excuse to not blog. :) At this point, my career seems to be a fantasy creative writing league, though i'm sure that's not what you had in mind. I will have to think more about the prospect and report back with ideas once i've had the time to consider the endless possibilities. :)
