Hey Keith,
The pictures look great!!! Speaking of which, our photographer, douglas sent us one of the pics as teaser and it looks terrific too. I will see if she can send it along to you.
Anyway, (and this can go up on the blog), we arrived in Auckland at 6 am, beaten and weary from our 13 hours of travel, plus the full day layover in LA AND the 5 1/2 hour flight that proceeded it. We originally planned to meet up with someone in LA, but that fell through and we then found that you can no longer store lugage in lockers at LAX after 9-11. As a result we sepen the day in the airport, not unlike Tom Hanks in the Terminal. In any case, it went very well and despite the exhaustion, we have made it alive and well.
As for Auckland, it is Beautiful! Despite being a bit wet and overcast today, we managed to get out on a harbor cruise and also walked through the downtown area. We planned on going to the Aquarium, but a combination of the rain kicking up and exhaustion have limited us to a quiet evening of dinner at the sky tower, overlooking all of the greater Auckland region, and a quick trip the casino. (If I didn't know any better, I would say this gambling thing has become a habit).
Another highlight thus far, was driving on the left. It's Strange!!! That is all I can say. I believe I will get used to it, but it is still something to have to keep reminding yourself how to drive your vehicle. My larger problem is my fascination with all the different car models and styles, which differ from those in the US. I have to be careful to not lose my concentration and forget to "learn" how to drive.
Well, that's all for now. Not sure if every hotel will be as nice as this and have a business center, but I will tr to check in again. This trip is great!!! What makes it better is the outstanding wedding which proceeded it, which I only have my Groomsmen to thank!
Signing off,
