Speaking of All things Geekular...

Since Keith mentioned opening computers as being "Geekular," I thought I would share with you what I will be doing over this nerdtastic weekend.

This Sunday is the 9th Annual DRBL Fantasy Baseball Draft. Yes, that's right, all of DRBL Nerd-dom will be assembling online to draft only the best bench players the American League has to offer. (I would explain why we are drafting these mediocrities, but then you would stop reading).

Anyway, This is where it all begins... Where I will be so excited about my team all the way until opening day; where I will proceed to bitch and moan about my team and the league I am in all the way until September. Then in September, I will begin the time honored tradition of grumbling about how this will be the year that I will quit the league. Ironically, this was the only offseason where I didn't follow this tradition, which led to Andrew resigning as Commissioner (that and the fact he has a girlfriend now).

Anyway, nerd-dom and homework are in my plans for the weekend... What are you guys up to?

Haha, awesome. I remember the days when Joe and I were roommates and Joe would sit in his pajamas all day on the computer, drafting players he would soon grow to despise. Ah, the memories. :D

Nothing huge in the cards for tonight. Tomorrow, the girlfriend and I will be baking cookies, checking out a new restaurant, and also checking out a new bar, though not necessarily all in that order.

Haha...I remember the days when I seemed to think I was your third roomate and Joe would sit all day in pajamas drafting the team on the computer... :) hey, remember freshman or sophomore year when I tried to "help" you and accidentally knocked computer connection from the outlet? I'm guessing you don't so glad I could remind you. :)
Not too much up for me this weekend, though I have a date on MOnday...since I seem to have a ton of dates that nothing ever comes of, I've stopped thinking of them as a big deal, which could perhaps be for the best...

Good luck with the draft and all other things geeklular :)

Thanks for the memories!

I had forgotten about the internet connection faux pau(sp?), but I could never forget the pajamas! or the way my hair felt after the draft and how I knew I needed a shower! Those were the days!

Anyway, for the record things have upgraded significantly in terms of draft day, now that I have a wife and a place to live that doesn't resemble a bunker.

For the second straight year, Dave, (Maid of honor) Amber's husband is coming over to be my Assistant GM (read: Co-Geek). He will bring his lap top so that we can do twice the geek research and I get to yell things like, "GET ME THE STATS FOR JASON TYNER!!!!"

It will be great.

As a side note, Keith, I appreciate when you provide links to cool looking places to eat. I want a full report.

Do you really appreciate it? :) I can't tell if you're joking or not, but regardless, here were the comments I posted on a local restaurant review blog.

dinner:
"Went here last night (Saturday) for dinner. We both really liked our meals (I had the pistachio-crusted jumbo shrimp, she had the cripsy ginger chicken)... I seriously had a smile on my face the whole time I was eating. And they did a good job with the decorations for what they had to work with.

If I had a complaint, it would be that the food was a little too heavy. I mean the breading was thick and crunchy. I liked it, but it didn't feel like any Asian-influenced food I've had before.

But still, highly recommended. Food was great. One recommendation: go early if you want a seat. When we left around 8, there were a lot of people waiting to be seated."

drinks:
"Went to Egan's last night. Was really more of a restaurant than a bar, at least in terms of the layout; if I had brought more than just one other person with me, I would have had kind of a hard time standing around having some drinks.

However, that's just an observation, not a knock on the place. It was a bright, friendly sort of place, and it would probably be a nice place to go eat. Just, if you're a young person thinking this will be a bar to go to with your friends, a) it is not really a bar, and b) you will be the youngest one there. :)"

From what I gather from others' comments after mine, however, it sounds like I just got there too early. The bar stops serving dinner at 10:30, and then it becomes a bar. So maybe I will give it another chance.

Keith,

I sincerely appreciate it. Cat and i always research everything that we do, whether it is a vacation or eating out, and I do really like when a place has a good website for us to check out.

I find it cool that you also take the time to put your thoughts on a review blog. I would never have thought to do that.

The review blog is actually how I found out about both these places. It is entertainment in itself, though. Check out these two epic threads, and how they degenerate into adults calling each other names.
