Has anyone been watching the Olympics?
I have been watching this new event, Snow Board Cross and it is really really cool. For those who don't know about it, it is 4 people racing down a mountain on their snowboards and contact is allowed. What makes it even better is that you legitimately have no idea who is going to win on a given day since your start place and the inadvertent bumping that goes on can change everything.
I saw the women's final last night where the favorite, Linsday Jacobeliss (who is kind of cute, I might add), started behind and quickly fought her way out to a commanding lead, only to lose it when she tried to show off by doing a trick off of the last jump, which led to her falling. She got up and finished second. It was crazy because the camera men (as USA-centric as ever), are just zooming in her standing there in disbelief as hoards of people are jumping over the Swede who won the event.
Meanwhile, well after the fact, they note how one of the snow boarders plowed into a big plastic mesh fencing system and had to hop back on to the course to finish in third. Now, if you have been following, and/or even care, you might be asking, "You said third... what happened tot he fourth snow boarder?" Well, she is being carried out on a stretcher and they either did not give too much of an explanation as to why, or I just fell asleep. Either way, she was carried away and i think if she could have dragged her lifeless corpse back onto the track, she could have made it close for the bronze.
Who would have known the Olympics could be this good?
