WWE Fantasy, week one!

Oh yes, it's that time again: Season 5 of WWE Fantasy starts on Monday! And once again, I will be detailing my picks for each week until I get bored of it.

One thing that will be affecting my strategy this time around is the fact that only RAW, SmackDown!, and PPV results will count towards fantasy totals. The so-called "B shows," Velocity and Heat, will not count. What this effectively means is that I will be selecting fewer scrubs ("jobbers," in wrestling-speak) to fill gaps in the roster than I might have before, because they will probably never show up on the two shows that count. I will thus probably end up taking more chances with higher-priced guys rather than being able to play it safe with some lower-priced guys.

In general, however, my strategy will remain mostly the same as last season: Pick guys who are near, but not at, the top of the roster, unless a match with a top guy has been previously announced. Sure, if the top guys have a match on free TV, they will get lots of points; but chances are that they will show up but not have a match.

This all having been said, let's take a look at my roster for week 1!

RAW Carlito $3,500,000
SmackDown Chris Benoit $4,000,000
RAW Chris Masters $3,500,000
RAW Edge $4,000,000
SmackDown Heidenreich $3,000,000
SmackDown Ken Kennedy $3,000,000
SmackDown Road Warrior Animal $3,000,000
RAW Rob Conway $3,000,000
RAW Trevor Murdoch $3,000,000

Carlito
Carlito is something of a crapshoot this week, but he's been showing up in random main events fairly frequently lately, so I like his chances of getting me points. However, he's just out of a feud with Ric Flair (who will likely move to feuding with Triple H starting Monday), so who knows if he will even show up.

Chris Benoit
Benoit, as the U.S. Champion, epitomizes the guys I am trying to pick. He's the top midcard guy, and the U.S. Title is a title that is very often defended on free TV. I like his chances of getting lots of points for me.

Chris Masters
"The Masterpiece" Chris Masters was my go-to guy last season, and so I picked him again. I really have no idea what he's going to be doing, since he's been kind of treading water, but he's always done me proud before.

Edge
Edge is coming off of a huge win over Matt Hardy in a "loser leaves RAW" match last week. I really have no idea what he'll be doing, which makes him a big gamble at the price of 4 mil... but he is really the top midcard guy on RAW, so I have hope.

Heidenreich/Road Warrior Animal
Heidenreich and Animal, the Legion of Doom, are the current WWE Tag Team Champions, and they seem to always have a match where they demolish some scrubs with the Doomsday Device. So, that would be good to happen again this week.

Ken Kennedy
Kennedy is a fast-rising star on SmackDown!, and is coming off a win against Hardcore Holly at tonight's PPV. He was actually the first one I picked for this week, followed by Rob Conway. I see these guys as being what Chris Masters was last season: heels who win over and over for very little reason. At least that's how they're shaping up.

Rob Conway
see above.

Trevor Murdoch
As one half of the World Tag Team Champions, along with partner Lance Cade, Murdoch has been getting a lot of face time on RAW. Unlike Hurricane and Rosey, the last tag team champs, who defended the title mostly on Heat, Cade and Murdoch have been much higher profile champs.

So there are my picks. Let's hope they're good ones!

We're doing well so far this week. Here's how the SentonBOMBS are shaping up:

Carlito, with his team, won a 6-man main event tag match.

Chris Masters defeated Tajiri with his finisher, the Master Lock.

Edge, with his team, won a 6-man main event tag match. He also hit his finisher, the Spear, on Big Show during the match.

Rob Conway defeated Doink(!) with his finisher, the Ego Trip.

Trevor Murdoch appeared backstage, but was not in a match. He only received "appearance" points.

Tonight was a good night, too. Finished off the week unremarkably, but strongly.

Chris Benoit defended the U.S. Championship against Orlando Jordan, winning with one of his finishing moves, the Sharpshooter.

Heidenreich and Road Warrior Animal, the Legion of Doom, won an 8-man tag match.

Ken Kennedy appeared and delivered a promo in the ring, but unfortunately did not wrestle.
