Oh no! Looks like I'm just barely in the game. What happened?? Actually, it's because I'm smart and lots of other people are dumb. Let's see why.

This weekend (Sunday) is the SmackDown! pay-per-view The Great American Bash. As a result, any wrestler in a match at the pay-per-view not only gets points for undoubtedly showing up on SmackDown! to get people interested in their PPV match, but also more points for their match at the PPV, where they receive extra "PPV match" points. Thus, it makes a lot of sense to only pick SmackDown! guys this week, since they will be pulling double duty. All of the people ahead of me chose RAW wrestlers, so they received points for last night, whereas I did not. Hence their lead in the standings.

That said, let's look at my picks for this week.

SmackDown! Batista Click for Recent News $5,000,000 194 38.8 1
SmackDown! Chris Benoit Click for Recent News $5,000,000 90 18.0 13
SmackDown! Christian Click for Recent News $3,500,000 115 23.0 8
SmackDown! Joey Mercury $3,000,000 72 14.4 21
SmackDown! Johnny Nitro $3,000,000 60 12.0 25
SmackDown! Muhammad Hassan Click for Recent News $3,500,000 81 20.3 17
SmackDown! Rey Mysterio $4,000,000 82 20.5 15
SmackDown! Theodore Long $1,500,000 21 5.3 47
SmackDown! Torrie Wilson $1,500,000 3 3.0 69

Batista
The current World Champion, Batista defends his title against John "Bradshaw" Layfield on Sunday. I think it's safe to say that Batista is coming out on top here; I highly doubt they are looking to end Batista's streak so soon after he won the title (only a few months ago).
Chris Benoit
Benoit challenges current U.S. Champion Orlando Jordan on Sunday. Orlando is a weak champ, and I can't see them having him go over Benoit; it seems more likely that they'll use Benoit to elevate the title a bit from its current spot as a kind of throwaway belt (which it's been ever since John Cena dropped it to Jordan a while back -- Cena got kind of screwed out of it by Jordan's "employer" Layfield, but went after WWE Champ Layfield instead of trying to get the belt back, which kind of devalued the title).
Christian
Christian is kind of randomly facing Booker T at the PPV. I'm not really sure Christian will win, but his stock seems to be rising ever since his jump to SmackDown! during the draft. Plus, he was a little cheaper than Booker T ($3.5 mil as opposed to $4 mil), so that made the choice easier.
Joey Mercury
Johnny Nitro

Mercury and Nitro, MNM, will be defending their tag team titles against Heidenreich and Animal (Joe, you may remember Animal from late-80s/early-90s tag team The Legion of Doom). My decision to take both members of MNM was due to a) not knowing who else to pick, and b) really really hoping that MNM win. It's not that I have any special love for MNM as a tag team, but taking the tag belts off an established legitimate tag team and giving them to a random wrestler and a "legend" making a couple-week cameo to plug his new DVD would be fucked up.
Muhammad Hassan
I'm a little worried about this pick. Hassan faces The Undertaker at the GAB, and on paper it seems obvious that he will win. It's a match to determine the number one contender to Batista's title. Evil guy whose stock has been continuously rising in the company since he started vs. Veteran good guy. You're not going to have Undertaker face Batista because no one will know who to root for. So it seems fairly obvious to me that you have Hassan win. However, the reason I'm a little worried is that he was cut out of the show after the London bombings because of his terrorist-like character. It doesn't make sense to just drop him from the course they had him set on, but maybe enough people are really offended by it now or something.
Rey Mysterio
I really hate this feud between Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio at this point, especially with the current direction they've taken it in (involving Eddie's and Rey's wives and kids and such), but I'd be stupid not to pick one of the two, since they do have a match. I picked Rey because a) he has won every match so far, so why not win another, and b) he was cheaper ($4 mil as opposed to Eddie's $5 mil).
Theodore Long
I needed to use $1.5 mil, so I picked up General Manager Theodore Long. Long will make a couple of appearances this week, and I'll get a couple of points from it.
Torrie Wilson
Torrie has a match against Melina on Sunday. They both have big racks, so it's hard to say who's the favorite. I randomly picked Torrie. Hope she wins.

Maybe I'll put a comment on this thread on Sunday night or Monday letting y'all know how I did this week. Bye for now!

Haha, how hilarious. I got every match wrong except for Mysterio going over Guerrerro.

Luckily, even though Batista lost the match, he did some crazy damage with a chair and hit finishers on several guys after the match was over. Which means he actually got more points than JBL, who won the match. So that's something.
